Albemarle is used to business ramping up when the region tournament hits, but the Patriots made it look like business as usual with a 3-0 sweep of an undermanned William Fleming squad in the Region 5D quarterfinals.

Albemarle will face Mountain View in the Region 5D semifinals at home Thursday night at 6 p.m. with a state tournament bid on the line.

The Patriots rolled 25-7, 25-6 and 25-7, suffocating the Colonels. Adalee Lynch led the offense with six kills while Olivia Deepak had four kills and Weining Ding had three kills. Deepak and Annabelle Townsend led the team with four aces each while Maya Winterhoff chipped in three aces. Trinity Swartz notched two blocks while Apria Herndon-Scott had a team high five digs.  Olivia Turner and Keira Roach split the setter duties with nine assists each.

Albemarle (23-3) wasted little time in the blowout, jumping out to a 10-2 lead in game one, a 13-3 lead in game two and 12-3 in game three.
