Through five innings, neither Eastern View nor Albemarle seemed interested in giving an inch.
But the Cyclones finally broke through with a Zach Thomas RBI triple and a Garrett Robinson RBI double. Albemarle’s counterpunch in the bottom of the seventh came up short as Eastern View snagged a 3-2 road victory.
After Thomas and Robinson gave the Cyclones a 3-1 lead, Ryan Porter blasted a seventh inning RBI double to score Connor Moriarty who’d reached on a double and advanced on a sacrifice fly. But Daniel Jones took over on the mound for Eastern View and locked the Patriots down to secure the win.
Ryan Porter and Andrew Porter each had two hits for the Patriots. Scott Reid had a solid start for the Patriots with four strikeouts over 5.1 innings and just one run over the first five innings before Thomas and Robinson broke through.
The Patriots will look to bounce back at home Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
