A look inside Issue Three

The September 30, 2009 issue of Scrimmage Play is out on racks across Central Virginia today, and it’s jampacked with features, analysis and profiles of the prep sports scene. Here’s a look at what’s inside our third issue.

Scrappy Setter: Abby Hendrix continues her rise through the Albemarle record books as the Patriots’ setter, building on her role as a distributor in several sports at Albemarle. We take a look at her progression and the way the gritty setter gets the job done for the Patriots.

Intensity Personified: Willie Crawford has passion and fire to spare out at Fluvanna County, giving the Flucos a fiery leader at linebacker in his return to the gridiron after focusing on wrestling last year, a move that helped earn him a state title.

Building a Program: Louisa County’s field hockey team is clearing a path for the sport in an area where it’s barely edged its way onto the radar the last few years.

Columns: Two columns from Bart Isley and Ryan Yemen take a look at players that have emerged from the shadows to give their respective programs a big spark.

And it doesn’t stop there, there are many more articles in the magazine including a look at Western’s girls cross country team and our first edition of Coach’s Corner, where area coaches get the chance to dive in to topics. This week, “What is Coaching” by Ben D’Alessandro.
