Western stays unbeaten in volleyball

Western Albemarle’s volleyball team kept rolling through Jefferson District play with a 3-0 sweep of William Monroe Tuesday night. The Warriors made short work of the Dragons, winning 25-9, 25-16 and 25-13.

“We’re in postseason form for lack of a better term — this is where we ant to be at this point in the season,” said Western coach Lance Rogers.

Chastity Lacy led the charge for the Warriors with 10 kills while Ana Asher managed seven kills of her own. Sarah Harper had six kills and eight digs. Kristin Pack knocked down four aces while Megan Adams had 20 assists.

Asher was particularly impressive in the match, dominating at the net for long stretches of the game.

“She’s really come a long way from last year,” Rogers said. “She’s really developed into the player we hope she would be.”

Cally Troutman had an error-free night for the Dragons and also knocked down three kills in the loss.
