Western Albemarle girls, boys sweep Goochland

Western Albemarle’s defense went into shutdown mode Tuesday night in the second half against Goochland, holding the Bulldogs to just 12 points after the break while rolling to a 62-43 victory.

Brandon Henry torched the Warriors in the first quarter for 11 points, but Western found an answer for him after that as they limited the senior star to just two points the rest of the night.

Dante Crawford was explosive for the Warriors, rolling up 17 points and 17 boards while teammate Christian Pierce also posted a double double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Travis Hester rounded out the effort with 13 points and four steals.

Western girls top Goochland

Western’s girls also had a strong night on the long trip toward Richmond. The Warriors rolled to a 45-33 victory with a balanced scoring effort led by Kelsey Swanson and Raven Ward with eight points each.

Amara Ezell and Tammara Taylor had 13 points and 12 points respectively for the Bulldogs.
