Well Rested: Western boys soccer beats Albemarle

It was hard to even know exactly what Western Albemarle boys soccer would look like Monday night.

“Coming straight out of Spring Break without a practice, I was very curious to see what our level of focus and determination would be,” said Western coach Milo Oakland.

He got a pretty resounding, emphatic answer from his squad. The Warriors picked up a statement road win Monday night coming out of spring break as the Warriors rolled 3-0 over Albemarle.

“I guess I should give them more week-long breaks because we showed more than I’ve seen all season,” Oakland said. “We played as close to a complete game as I’ve seen all season and it is a great stepping stone to keep working hard and improving.”

Conner Spano scored twice and Daniel Sanchez chipped in the third goal. Jamey Williamson notched a pair of assists and Sam Vigilante assisted on the other goal.

The Warriors jumped out on the Patriots early with Spano scoring in the first 10 minutes and Albemarle couldn’t find an equalizer.

Western gets another break from game action this week before facing Fluvanna County Monday night on the road while the Patriots continue a challenging week with a clash with Charlottesville High Thursday night at CHS.
