Ward strikes out 12, Fluvanna baseball beats CHS

Ward struck out 12 and allowed just three hits in five shutout innings of work. Kristian Negron and Wyatt Dansey closed out the game on the mound, combining for five strikeouts in an inning each.

Ryan Groome went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI. John Rittenhouse had a pair of doubles for the Flucos while going 2-for-4. Mason Gross and Kyle Algieri each knocked in a run. Andrew Ward had a triple while going 2-for-2 and scoring three runs, including stealing home.

The Flucos scored a couple of runs on wild pitches and passed balls, including three runs in the fourth. Seven of Fluvanna’s runs were unearned and the Flucos left 10 on base on the night.

Tyler Williams went 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Black Knights. Dalton Richardson struck out three in four innings for Charlottesville.

Fluvanna County will host Powhatan Thursday while the Black Knights will travel to Western Albemarle Tuesday.
