Terrell’s toss lifts Madison past Luray

Madison County was trailing in the second half against Luray, down by six after a four-yard Will Logan touchdown for the Bulldogs. But it didn’t last long.

A little more than a minute after Logan’s tally, Logan Terrell answered for Madison, connecting with Dylan Shifflette on a 57-yard touchdown pass that put the Mountaineers ahead for good. After a fourth quarter Dustin Kirby touchdown plunge, Madison wrapped up a 28-20 victory Friday night to stay unbeaten.

Terrell was again the centerpiece for a Madison offense that seems to have a good rhythm going. The senior piled up 122 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries in addition to his touchdown pass. The rushing score came with 42 seconds left in the first half from 25 yards out.

He also led the Mountaineers defensively with 11 tackles and a sack.

Shifflette has also emerged as the top target in the passing attack, hauling in four catches for 88 yards and the third quarter touchdown.

Devon Boone provided a strong counterpunch to Terrell in the running game, rushing for 65 yards on nine carries. Ralph Yates had two touches for 48 yards.

Kirby went 6-for-13 and 59 yards at quarterback for the Mountaineers and had his first rushing touchdown of the game early in the first quarter.

Terez Terrell picked up eight tackles and a sack while Bradley Meadows, a force at linebacker, had seven stops and a sack.
