STAB cruises past Hampton Roads Academy in eight-man

Gabe Decker is dangerous when St. Anne’s-Belfield gets the ball in his hands, and they found their big, fast junior a lot Friday night.

Decker scored three times — two on the ground, another on a catch and run — as STAB rolled 42-0 past Hampton Roads Academy on the road in eight-man action.

The Saints (2-2) evened their record thanks to Decker scoring twice in the first half and Will Edelson pouncing on a fumble for a touchdown before Amani Woods squeaked in from a yard out. That gave the Saints a 28-0 cushion heading into halftime.

The Saints defense was dominant beyond Edelson’s fumble recovery, holding HRA to just 84 yards of total offense on the night. STAB limited the Navigators to just 1.4 yards per carry and outside of three fourth down conversions, kept them in check essentially from the opening kickoff. Four turnovers didn’t help HRA’s cause either.

Decker rushed for 71 yards on just five touches on the night whileWoods rushed for 61 yards on nine carries.

STAB quarterback Thomas Harry went 2-for-5 for 65 yards including the scoring toss to Decker and Jago Hunter tacked on a touchdown late in the third quarter. Nick Musi picked up 33 yards on his lone carry.

STAB will look to get above .500 when they travel to Greenbrier Christian Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
