Mountaineers shutout Cougars

Last week Clarke County won their ninth game of the year before their bye week to set up its half of a big time showdown for the Bull Run District championship. This week, Madison County held up their end of the bargain, cruising past Manassas Park on the road 41-0 to line up the battle of the unbeatens.

The Mountaineers scored In the first six seconds of the game with Logan Terrell hitting Antonio Childress on a 31-yard passing strike. Madison was able to score five touchdowns in the game’s first 18 minutes to put the game out of reach in the first half.

Terrell had a whale of a game with 120 yards and two rushing touchdowns to go along with his touchdown toss and a receiving touchdown, a 37-yarder from Dustin Kirby. Terrell also racked up 10 tackles on defense with teammates A.J. Butler and Bradley Meadows not far behind with 9 each.

The Mountaineers out gained the Cougars on offense 411 yards to 81.

Dylan Shiflette and Ralph Yates accounted for the other two touchdowns in the game. Shifflette caught a 34-yard pass from Kirby in the first quarter while Yates ran for a 5-yard score early in the fourth frame.

Madison (9-0, 3-0) will host rival Clarke (9-0, 3-0) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
