Monticello girls lacrosse rolls past Charlottesville to stay unbeaten

A pretty big battle is now set for Friday evening.

That’s when Monticello and Albemarle girls lacrosse will lock horns in a battle of two teams with an early lead in the Jefferson District race.

The Mustangs (4-0) blew past Charlottesville 16-4 Tuesday and with the Patriots beating Western at home, there’s a lot of early season momentum on the line for Friday’s clash.

Caleigh Smith finished with six goals to lead the Mustangs’ attack against the Black Knights while Josie Mallory notched five goals. Meghan Walin finished with two goals and an assist while Megan Passerell had a goal and an assist. Kendall Smith and Alexis Stadler each finished with two assists.

The Mustangs will host the Patriots at 7 p.m. Friday night while the Black Knights look to regroup at home against Powhatan at 5:30 p.m. the same night.
