After falling in two of the first three games, Monticello rallied back to beat William Monroe in the last regular season game before the Jefferson District tournament begins on Thursday, 3-2, 19-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-16, 15-12.
As they have been all year, the Mustangs were led to the come from behind win by seniors Christine Archer, Amanda Powell and Erica Watson. Archer led the team in kills with 12 while Powell and Watson topped the assists and digs departements. Powell had 29 assists and Watson came up with 15 digs. Sidney Walker was also a factor for Monticello, particularly at the service line as she picked up 5 aces on the Greene Dragons.
The Mustangs (14-6, 10-4) and Monroe (10-10, 7-7) will play in the Jefferson District Tournament at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Monticello.
