Louisa County football drops King George, moves to 3-0

It was going to be difficult coming into the year to figure out who was getting the ball in Louisa County’s ground game with an array of options to carry the ball back in the fold.

It has, somehow, becoming even more challenging.

Louisa made quick work of King George Friday night, rolling 54-12 over the Foxes to move to 3-0 on the year with fourth players getting seven or more touches on the night while piling up 310 yards on the ground.

Malik Bell led the way with 88 yards eight carries while the increasingly dangerous Jarrett Hunter had 80 yards on nine carries and Job Whalen checked in with 59 yards on 11 carries. Raquan Jones finished with 40 yards on seven carries. Louisa averaged 6.7 yards per carry in the win, with Hunter, Bell and Jones all scoring on the ground.

Bell chipped in 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air for good measure, with a 31 yard toss to David Sharpe and a 29-yard pass to Mark Carter. Sharpe had three catches for 43 yards while Caleb Turner’s 87 yards on two receptions led the passing attack.

Whalen had a fumble recovery for a touchdown on the other side of the ball. Matt West picked off a pass.

The Lions built a 24-6 lead before the break. They now get a week off before a critical Jefferson District opener against Albemarle at home.
