Lacrosse roundup 4.12.17: Monticello girls, FUMA and Blue Ridge boys pick up wins

Monticello’s girls lacrosse team picked up a solid 18-7 victory Tuesday night over Covenant on the strength of a pair of explosive offensive performances.

 

Paige McGlothlin poured in six goals and dished out two assists for the Mustangs while Meghan Walin posted six goals of her own and had an assist.

 

Kendall Walin finished with two goals and an assist, Josie Mallory had a goal and two assists and Ari Archer had two goals. Caleigh Smith chipped in a goal and an assist.

 

The Mustangs will take on Albemarle at home Friday night.

 

Fork Union boys lacrosse beats Fluvanna

With a strong performance from Jack Greenspon, Fork Union snagged a win over Fluvanna County Tuesday, rolling 11-2 over the Flucos. Greenspon had a hat trick, notched an assist and picked up five ground balls.

 

Blue Ridge boys drop Virginia Episcopal

Blue Ridge’s boys lacrosse team edged out Virginia Episcopal 11-10 in overtime Tuesday, rallying from a 7-2 deficit at the break against VISAA Division II’s top-ranked squad to win 11-10.

 

Ty Ewen scored seven of his eight goals in the second half including the overtime game winner off a feed from Marcus Valeria at the end of a coast-to-coast run by Valeria.

 

The Barons face Hargrave Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Charlottesville boys lacrosse (5-2) beat Hidden Valley 16-9.

Miller boys lacrosse beat Fishburne 23-5 Tuesday with six different players scoring goals for the Mavericks.

Woodberry Forest fell 11-10 to Episcopal at home.
