Defense pushes Goochland past Central Lunenburg

Goochland’s defense is leaving little doubt that it’s a major strength for the Bulldogs this year.

The Bulldogs rode that unit to a 28-6 victory Friday against Central Lunenburg as Goochland forced four turnovers and held Central to just 200 total yards of offense.

The offense, meanwhile, kept clipping along with an array of running backs picking up yards. Jasper Carter notched his third-straight 100-yard game with 101 yards on 20 touches. John King scored twice on the ground, picking up 56 yards on seven touches. Perry Snead-Johnson had 62 yards on six carries and Jordan Hughes chipped in 27 yards on five carries. Quincy Snead had a 25-yard run for a touchdown in the third quarter, his lone carry of the game.

Quarterback Devin McCray went 4-for-7 through the air for 67 yards, with the bulk of it coming on a 47-yard fourth quarter touchdown pass to Dallas Holmes.

The Bulldogs (3-0) host Nottoway Friday at 7 p.m.
