Covenant girls lacrosse falls to Steward

Covenant girls lacrosse got on the field for the first time in more than a year and the Eagles took Steward to the brink before falling 13-11.

The Eagles leaned on a pack of young players in the narrow loss, with freshman Reese Dalton pouring in five goals, eighth grader Delaney Poindexter notching five more while dishing out three assists and sophomore Lina Touririne had a goal. Eighth grader Cara Hamil created some havoc defensively by picking off three passes and forcing a trio of turnovers.

Freshman goalie Katy Varaksa notched 13 saves on the day and Dalton finished with five ground balls and five draw controls while Poindexter added five ground balls and four draws to her big offensive day.

The Eagles are next slated to take the field April 1 against Miller School at home.
