Covenant girls lacrosse edges St. Gertrude

Covenant’s girls lacrosse team picked up a big-time 10-9 win over St. Gertrude on the road Friday, with keeper Katy Varaksa’s 20-save effort in the cage leading the way for the Eagles.

Covenant, currently ranked No. 5 in VISAA’s Division II, got the job done against the Division I Gators, with freshman Reese Dalton notching six goals while Delaney Poindexter filled up the stat sheet with two goals, three assists, five draw controls and five ground balls. Margaret Ann Graves had a goal and an assist and Lina Touririne had a goal and Caroline Thompson had an assist.

The Eagles face Highland Wednesday afternoon on the road before they close out the regular season at home Thursday against Virginia Episcopal.
