Covenant girls basketball drops New Covenant in BRC quarters

Covenant’s girls basketball team went to work right out of the gate Tuesday, building a 15-point lead in the first quarter en route to rolling 51-20 over New Covenant in the Blue Ridge Conference quarterfinals.

 

Offensive balance carried the Eagles in the win as no Eagle notched double figures in the win, but Delaney Poindexter and Margaret Ann Graves notched eight points each while CeCe Corbey, Reese Dalton and Kerrigan Poindexter scored seven points each.

 

Kerrigan Poindexter was a force defensively with six steals while Delaney Poindexter had a team-high three assists. Makayla Hargrove and Lina Tiouririne each had four rebounds.

 

The Eagles advance to the BRC semis Thursday where they’ll square off with Virginia Episcopal School.
