Conference Championship Golf Roundup 9.27.16

Led by a strong day for Austin Crenshaw, William Monroe’s golf team earned a Region 3A East tournament berth Monday with a runner-up finish in Conference 28 at Greene Hills Club.

 

Riverside won the conference team title with a 301.

 

Crenshaw won the individual conference title by carding a 69, giving the Dragons a big leg up as they put together a 321 as a team that was enough to hold off third place Brentsville.

 

Dalton Gibson’s 75, Miles Lesko’s 86 and Hannah Woodson’s 91 combined for the Monroe win.

 

Western, Fluvanna advance individual golfers

 

In the Conference 29 championships that wrapped up at Glenmore Monday, Fort Defiance won the title and Spotswood grabbed the other region berth, but two of the conference’s three Central Virginia schools advanced golfers to the Region 3A West tournament.

 

Conference 29 plays 54 total holes at three different courses to determine the team title and Western Albemarle finished just 13 strokes back of the Trailblazers’ runner-up effort. Dixon Haas, Nathan Vance and Andrew Yancey all three advanced to the the region tournament for the Warriors individually. Fluvanna County’s Jack Stanke also got through to the region tourney.

 

Monticello’s Tyler Walker finished just two strokes short of making the region cut.

 

Goochland takes third in conference championship

 

Goochland’s golf team finished third at the Conference 34 championships Monday, with the Bulldogs’ Peyton Butts taking fifth place overall individually.

 

He and Jackson Raines earned Region 2A East berths.

 

Randolph-Henry won the Conference title while Greensville locked up the other region berth with a runner-up finish. Randolph-Henry’s Evan Mason won the conference individual title.
