Charlottesville, Fluvanna wrestlers qualify for state tournament

 

In the Region 3C wrestling tournament at Wilson Memorial Saturday, Charlottesville and Fluvanna County managed to qualify multiple wrestlers for the Class 3 state tournament coming out of a challenging region. 

 

The Black Knights notched a pair of state qualifiers in Xavi Castaneda who took third place at 152 pounds and Will Lawson who finished fourth at 285 pounds. They’ll both advance to the Class 3 state tournament in Salem. 

 

Fluvanna County’s David Taylor at 160 pounds and Sean Olivia at 145 pounds both took fourth place to earn trips to the state tournament. 

 

Both squads also had several other solid finishes with the Flucos taking ninth overall as a team and Charlottesville taking 11th. Charlottesville’s Jory Cardoza took fifth place at 160 pounds. Fluvanna County’s Austin Moore took fifth at 182, Ryan Perez grabbed fifth at 106 and Sam Stoltz was fifth at 152.

 

Charlottesville’s Ezat Amirkhan took sixth at 113 and Manzorullah Bana took sixth at 126.
