Booth throws no-no, delivers walkoff for Monticello baseball

As far as debuts go, it went about as well as Monticello baseball could have asked for. The Mustangs rolled to start their season off, getting eight hits to capitalize on the eight walks the slew of wild pitches and passed balls it drew against Waynesboro in an 11-0 run ruling of Waynesboro that also saw Dylan Booth come up with a no-hitter.

The Mustangs went up 8-0 in just the first two innings. Booth started the scoring off with a 2-run single in the first. It was 4-0 after one when Dylan Zimmerman drew a bases loaded walk and Jake Huffman and Nico Yowell scored on a passed ball.

In the second, Grayson Bush and Desmond Kidd-Revis both  scored on a passed ball, Tyler Walker delivered a 2-run triple. In the third a groundout from Matthew Allen plated a run to make it 9-0.

The Mustangs wrapped up the win early with a 2-run bottom of the fifth thanks to a single from Booth that scored Kevin Jarrell and Bush and make it 11-0.

Booth threw all five innings and gave up no hits, struck out six and allowed just two baserunners on a pair of walks. He was also 2-for-3 with a trio of RBI. Jarrell was 2-for-4 while Bush was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks.

Monticello host Eastern View on Thursday.
