Boone fuels Mountaineer win over Page

After a scare with Luray threatened Madison County’s perfect season last week, the Mountaineers didn’t waste anytime putting away Page on Friday night, picking up the 35-6 in less dramatic fashion.

Behind 197 yards on the ground, Madison was able to score 28 points before Luray found a way to get on the board, while senior running back Logan Terrell rushed and passed for a touchdown for the second week in a row. In case there was any doubt before the game against the Panthers, it’s now abundantly clear that Terrell is comfortable both running and throwing when the coaching staff either direct snaps to him, or places him in their wildcat formation.

While Terrell had a solid night, it was teammate Devon Boone who did most of the heavy lifting on the ground against the Page. Boone finished with 137 on 19 carries and scored on a pair of runs in the second and third quarter. The senior also chipped in two sacks on defense.

Defensively, the Mountaineers had four players with atleast eight tackles. AJ Butler led the team with 10 tackles while Bradley Meadows was close behind with nine.

The Mountaineers (5-0) will host Stonewall Jackson on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
