Blue Ridge storms back

Blue Ridge struggled to get a pair of punts off early against Christchurch, but the Barons quickly found their stride after that.

Blue Ridge, ranked No. 1 currently in VISSA Division 2, rolled to a 31-14 victory over the No. 5 Seahorses.

Blue Ridge piled up 257 yards in the air and another 125 on the ground, with A.J. WIliams notching two touchdowns in the win. Roderick Holloway and Andre Roberts also found the endzone.

Christchurch blocked two Blue Ridge punts in the opening five minutes to give the Seahorses possession inside the Barons’ 20-yardline. That led to two quick scores and an early 14-0 deficit for Blue Ridge.

The Barons responded well, reeling off 31 unanswered points. They also put together that strong performance without the services of running back David Coe, who is nursing a sprained ankle. Sophomore Robin Moore and senior Mike Casey carried the burden in the ground game in Coe’s place.
