Basketball Roundup 1.21.17: Goochland boys beat Buckingham, Western girls win

Goochland’s boys basketball team coasted past Buckingham County Friday night, winning 61-36 at home.

The Bulldogs’ double double machine Jack Twombly posted another big night with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Deion Harwood led the offensive attack with 19 points while Josh Chandler had 11 points.

Buckingham played without the services of Antonio Chambers who was out with an injury. Gray Heslip and Andrew Johnson each had 11 points.

 

Louisa County boys beat Powhatan

With a huge night for Malachi Poindexter, Louisa County boys basketball beat Powhatan 61-58.

Poindexter poured in 26 points for the Lions while Chris Steppe chipped in 17.

 

Western girls beat Monticello

Western Albemarle’s girls basketball squad edged Monticello 26-20 Friday, with Eleri Hayden leading the way offensively for the Warriors with 13 points, six rebounds and four steals.

Shannon Moore finished with six rebounds and four steals, Elisabeth Coffman had eight points and four steals and Mady Starsia had four rebounds.

Camille Blaine had six points to lead the Mustangs.

 

Fluvanna County girls beat Orange

Fluvanna County’s girls basketball team pushed past Orange Friday night 45-26.

Niya Brown scored 12 points and nabbed three steals while pulling down five rebounds. Nevaeh Ivory scored 10 points for the Flucos.

Laine Harrington finished with 10 points to lead the Hornets.

 

Other Scores

Madison boys basketball beat Rappahannock 69-47 with Isiah Smith scoring 15 points while Elijah Lewis had 13 points. Kobi Alexander and Dre Twyman had 11 points each.

Buckingham’s girls team beat Goochland 41-37.

Orange County boys beat Fluvanna 57-48.

Fork Union boys basketball beat Christchurch 49-46.

Collegiate boys basketball beat Woodberry Forest 49-42.

Trinity Episcopal girls basketball beat Covenant 73-53.
