Basketball Roundup 1.14.17: CHS and Louisa girls, Blue Ridge boys pick up wins

Charlottesville’s girls basketball team gutted out a 44-23 win over Monticello Friday with a balanced offensive effort.

Daeja Wade and Kaniyah Key each had eight points while Destinee McDonald notched seven for the Black Knights.

 

Louisa girls beat Fluvanna

Louisa County’s girls basketball team beat Fluvanna Friday night 55-48, but they needed an explosive second half to do it.  

The Lions trailed the Flucos 25-18 at the break, but pulled away for the win behind 26 points from Tyi Skinner. Kyia Scott finished with 12 for Fluvanna.

 

Nelson girls beat William Campbell

Nelson County’s girls basketball team blew past William Campbell Friday, rolling 52-26 behind a big effort from Delaney Stone.

Stone notched 23 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and three blocks. Kalin McGarry chipped in nine points for the Governors while Mia Toms had six points.

 

Blue Ridge boys beat Carlisle

Blue Ridge’s boys basketball team  beat Carlisle 88-49 on the road Friday.

Darius McGhee had 23 points, five rebounds and five steals. Sardaar Calhoun had 19 points and five rebounds, Josh Colon had 14 points and Aamir Simms had 13 points, four boards and four assists.

 

 

STAB girls drop St. Gertrude

Jayla Davis got going in a big way for STAB’s girls basketball team Friday, going for 26 points, eight steals, six rebounds and five assists.

In the process, STAB won 71-35 to pick up a solid LIS victory over the Gators.

Bri Tinsley finished with 11 points, five rebounds and five steals. Sierra Smith notched a double double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

 

Other Scores

Goochland boys basketball beat Cumberland 77-55 FRiday, with Deion Harwood going for 31 points and even rebounds. Jack Twombly finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds and Quentin Watson had 10 points.

Fork Union fell 62-46 to St. Christopher’s.

Woodberry Forest boys basketball beat Christchurch 42-29.

Buckingham’s boys basketball team fell 59-51 to Nottoway.
