Avenged: Covenant girls beat VES in conference semifinals

Covenant’s girls basketball team played a tougher schedule this year in large part to make sure they were ready to roll for the postseason.

So far, so good.

The Eagles beat Virginia Episcopal 61-46 in the Blue Ridge Athletic Conference semifinals on the road, avenging a pair of regular season losses to the Bishops in the process.

Covenant got an explosive effort from Delaney Poindexter as the sophomore finished with 23 points. Kerrigan Poindexter notched 16 points and Makayla Hargrove finished with 15. That three-headed monster made it particularly tough to defend the Eagles.

Covenant will take on Miller in the BRC title game Saturday at 4 p.m.
