Albemarle’s field hockey team went to work quickly Tuesday, striking early while pulling away for a 4-0 win over Monticello.
The Patriots got an early goal from Morgan Rose and built on that advantage with a Kelsey Myers goal with 15 minutes left in the first half. Abby Meistrell then added another with 8:22 left.
That halftime lead proved too much for the Mustangs to climb back out against, and Jenn Wendelken tacked on a fourth to put the game completely out of reach.
Kat Bianchetto, Anna Murray and Myers all assisted on goals, with Albemarle keeper Emily Garcia registering a pair of saves in the win.
Albemarle will host Orange County Thursday while Monticello travels to take on Western the same night.
